Presenting the ultimate guide to the historical sites of Seoul! 🏯
📌 A few tips before your visit:
1️⃣ Wear a hanbok
Visiting palaces in a hanbok is much more interesting - you literally become part of the historical atmosphere. Additionally,
for visitors wearing a hanbok, entry to many palaces and historical sites is free. Even without a hanbok, tickets are usually
quite inexpensive - most often up to 3,000 won.
👘 Hanbok Rental
Near most popular palaces, there are dozens of rental shops where you can rent a hanbok for a few hours or for the whole day. The cost usually starts from 10,000-20,000 won for a basic set and can reach
30,000-50,000 won for more luxurious options with hair styling and accessories.
2️⃣ Don't try to visit everything at once
If you've come to Seoul for just a few days, seeing all the palaces and historical sites will be difficult. It's better to choose the most interesting spots for you in advance. I especially recommend looking for palaces that host
changing of the guard ceremonies and royal guard performances - these are some of the most spectacular historical
displays in the city.
3️⃣ Be sure to take photos and videos
At first glance, many palaces might seem similar to one another, especially if you aren't into history.
So, don't rush to see everything as quickly as possible. Sometimes it's much more enjoyable to pick one large palace, take a leisurely
stroll through the grounds, and have a beautiful photo shoot.
4️⃣ Learn the history in advance
Even a brief introduction to the history of the Joseon Dynasty will make your walk much more interesting. I also suggest planning
your route in advance and familiarizing yourself with the rules for visiting historical sites to ensure your trip is
as comfortable as possible.
✨ Personally, after visiting such places, I always feel like watching a historical K-drama, because there really is a feeling as if you've stepped back into the past for a short while.
