Questions and Answers (Q&A) on the consolidation of H-2 and F-4 residency status for overseas Koreans

For everyone holding an H-2 visa, it is recommended to change your status to F-4 by 31.12.2027, as those who apply for the status change from H-2 to F-4 
before 31.12.2027 will be exempt from the status change fee (100,000 won).

Additionally, the Korean language proficiency requirements will be increased in stages, so the earlier you change your 
status, the lower the language level required for confirmation:

• until 31.12.2026, the current Level 1 is maintained;

• from 01.01.2027 to 31.12.2028, Level 2 will apply;

• from 01.01.2029, it will be necessary to complete Level 3 of the Social Integration Program.
