With the onset of the warm season, it is important to remember diseases transmitted through mosquito bites. One of them is
malaria. In Korea, cases occur more frequently during the period from May to October.
The main symptoms of malaria may include:
— chills and high fever;
— heavy sweating;
— headache;
— diarrhea;
— nausea and vomiting.
The incubation period can vary, so if such symptoms appear, it is important as soon as possible
to visit a medical facility. Malaria is detected using a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) and with timely
treatment, it usually responds well to therapy.
How to reduce the risk of infection?
🦟 Try to spend less time outside at night when mosquitoes are most active.
🦟 Take a shower after heavy sweating.
🦟 Wear light-colored clothing with long sleeves and long pants.
🦟 Use repellents and other insect control products.
🦟 Avoid areas where mosquitoes gather and breed.
🦟 Install mosquito nets on windows.
If you are traveling to a country or region with a high risk of malaria, consult with a doctor in advance about
the need for preventive medications.
