On the internet, there are very few articles in Russian related to Big Data regarding foreigners in Korea.
Big Data refers to extremely large, diverse, and rapidly growing volumes of information that
cannot be processed effectively using traditional methods. Fortunately, the South Korean government processes such data and shares reports in the public domain. If you do not know the Korean language, it will likely be
difficult to find sources. But do not worry: in this article, you can easily and clearly familiarize yourself with data on the
number of "Russian-speaking" foreigners in Korea.
If you have never thought about the statistics of your compatriots' presence in Korea before, here are a few reasons
why it is worth paying attention to the "numbers":
knowing which area more compatriots live in makes it easier to guess where it is easier to adapt;
higher chances of finding a job;
higher probability of meeting people who speak the same language;
one can determine the target audience for a business or services;
and, of course, come up with your own reasons for analysis.

According to data from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea as of July 31, 2025, there were 2,730,534
registered foreigners from all over the world living in the country.
In the infographics, you will be able to see the number of people from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine,
Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Belarus in different provinces and cities of Korea.
Key figures (as of July 31, 2025):
Total foreigners from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine,
Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Belarus: 234,957 people (legally registered).
The statistics do not include illegal migrants, of whom there are also quite a few among the listed countries.
🇺🇿 Uzbekistan — 98,816
🇷🇺 Russia — 69,251
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan — 44,115
🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan — 12,321
🇺🇦 Ukraine — 5,237
🇹🇯 Tajikistan — 3,315
🇹🇲 Turkmenistan — 1,435
🇧🇾 Belarus — 467

The majority of Russian-speaking foreigners live in Gyeonggi-do (경기도) province. In the next article, we will examine the distribution across the cities of this province in detail.
The only exception is Belarusians: they more often choose Seoul, but the gap is small—only about 30 people.
