📢 Important for Kazakhstan citizens living abroad - you now need to file an income tax return!

I am from Kazakhstan myself, and I believe it is important to share this information – especially for those who, like me, have been living abroad for a long time.

Starting from 2025, all tax residents of Kazakhstan are required to declare their income annually, even if they work remotely from another country or receive income from foreign companies. Check and study related topics to understand if you are a resident or not!

📌 Who is considered a tax resident?

Even if you have been living outside of Kazakhstan for a long time, it does not mean you automatically lose your tax resident status. You can read more about the signs of tax residency in the infographic we have attached to the post.

📅 By what date must the declaration be submitted?

By September 15 of the year following the reporting year. For example, for 2024, it's by September 15, 2025.

The declaration form is 270.00 (on income and property).

💸 What tax do I have to pay?

If you received income abroad and a tax agent in Kazakhstan does not pay for you, you are obligated to independently calculate and pay the personal income tax (PIT) – 10% of the amount. This must be done no later than 10 calendar days after submitting the declaration.

🌍 What if taxes have already been paid in another country, for example, in Korea?

Kazakhstan has signed double taxation avoidance agreements with 55 countries, including the Republic of Korea.

This means that if you have already paid taxes abroad, they can be credited in Kazakhstan. To do this, you will need:

A certificate from the tax authority of another country with information on income received and taxes paid.

A notarized translation of this certificate into Kazakh or Russian.

If you live and work abroad, freelance, or receive income to your card – be sure to understand this issue in advance to avoid penalties.

Save the post and share it with your friends – many still don't know about this change!
