📌 What is 퇴직금? And who is entitled to it?
💼 Many of our compatriots in Korea are officially employed, but not all of them know about the severance pay they are entitled to upon
dismissal!
🔍 What is 퇴직금 (tvyecykym)?
It is severance pay that an employer is obligated to pay to an employee after dismissal, if the employee has worked for at least 1 year and on average 15 hours or more per week.
💰 How much will you receive?
Payment = average monthly salary for the last 3 months.
📌 Example: if you received 2,000,000 won per month for the last 3 months, then your 퇴직금 will be approximately 2,000,000 won for each full year of work.
⏰ When is it paid?
Within 14 days after the termination of employment.
❗️ What if the employer doesn't pay?
Don't stay silent! You can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor (노동청). You can apply within 3 years.

🧩 Even if your contract does not mention 퇴직금, by law you are entitled to it!
If you worked without a contract, proof of employment (bank statements, timekeeping records, photos from the workplace, screenshots of correspondence with the employer, etc.) is very important. Therefore, always work with a labor contract!
